The East Ridge of Mt. Russell is one of my favorite 3rd class routes in the Sierra. I just had a very enjoyable climb yesterday with Betsy who is a long time friend of Doug's family and many people on this board. The weather was clear and warm with only an occasional light breeze. A couple pics of Betsy in action are below. the rest of the pictures are here.

Congratulations Betsy!

Hurray Betsy!!

Way to recover from a family invasion, er um - vacation!

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Great photos of a spectacular route. It is very inspiring seeing what you did. I hope it motivates many others here to do the same.

Congratulations Betsy on a job well done!

Well this maybe the answer "where are the women on the Whitney Trail"? Looks like they are out climbing mountains. Thanks Kurt for not only making this a long time dream of Betsy's then doing the long loop around Iceberg to top off the trip and getting many great flower shots to add to the day , Jack stayed at the Portal and helped Nic and Earlene as Doug and I went to Reno for a checkup on Doug. It was a great day for everyone Betsy made the summit , Doug got a good report and a nice afternoon shower to clean the air. Thanks Doug

Good to read all of the excellent news -- especially the good report from Reno. Of course the women are climbing mountains; we like to get off the beaten path, too! wink

Good to hear Doug Jr. is getting better. As someone who rides motorcycles, it was scary hearing about the accident and its aftereffect.

Congrats Betsy!! I met you and your husband at the A16 clinic in WLA. (I'm the RDA/horse woman) You are truly an inspiration to me and I am upping my training so I can attempt Whitney soon.

Great flower shots too!

Congrats. You must have been the party we met on the 12th at about 3:00pm. We were encouraged by the fact that you made it, and that helped us the next day when we attempted the same route (James, age 28 and myself, 54).
