Hello all, I was in a group of three that made the summit over labor day weekend. We drove up from San Diego and hiked up to Trail Camp for the night, then started hiking the next morning around 4am to make the summit around 830am. I took video of the trip and posted a summary on my hiking blog. This was my first trip to Whitney and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I hope you all like the footage and it gives you a little idea of what the mountain is all about. Let me know what you think.

Congratulations on your hike. I liked the video with the good narrative. You had some nice shots. Having day hiked the mountain in early August, I still find myself being drawn back to it through the message board.

MikeT,
I greatly enjoyed my virtual climb of Whitney through your video.

Kudos. Well done. However I think you dissed day hikers for no reason.

I am a backpacking kind of guy so I figured what the heck lets stay a night and break it up. As a side note I would be curious how many day hikers actually enjoyed the experience and how many don't make it b/c of exhaustion or effects from altitude. I do remember passing a bunch of hikers around 1pm just starting up the switchbacks and moving pretty slow. I was thinking "I would not want to be you right now." Kudos to all the day hikers, I do tip my hat to you. I can not think of a tougher day hike.

Thanks. It is indeed a really horrible hike day or overnight for those of us (i.e. me) who have bird legs. I didn't want to be mean to you, just pointing out the comment came across a little bit not nice. I would not discourage a day hike in any way. The mountain is fun any way you look at it, attainable and not impossible. Going there is more an attitude than a physical accomplishment and that's why some people who comment adversely about other's experiences seem to enjoy commenting that way. I encourage anyone who's able to please do the hike. The mountain is way up there but it's not over your head.

Hi, Tim. I REALLY enjoyed your video. You really captured the Whitney experience. The overview of the trail at the beginning helps people to understand different aspects of the trail, and then the video gives them an excellent understanding of what it is actually like. I also enjoyed your half dome video. Keep it coming!

Great video Tim! I did a dayhike exactly one month ago, and it really brought back some of the details that had already slipped my mind. Nice job!
