Here's the list of people onboard so far:

Doug Sr.
Richard
Mike
Ava
Carole
Kristine
Bob P.
Vic
Chan

Tom and Lisa are a maybe so far. I haven't heard confirmation back from them yet.

That's 9 of us (confirmed) so far.

I've got a lot of extra gear that I can loan out, but I doubt we'll need any for this trip.

Hard to top Doug's monster miles, but

Dave Horton's PCT record was broken this year, over 40 miles a day:

Harvey these two guys are the benchmark for the next generation, my miles were even sweeter I got paid and most days had a Jetranger waiting and a motel and hot food , course when it was cold we had to sleep with the battery from the heliocopter so we could take off the next morning, I think the best day was we had hooked everything up got in (you know we never took off before dawn ) was in the air several minutes, I reached down to get my coffee I had place on the floor tried to take a drink and it was empty, this would just be another one of those day where the pilot says surveyors are worse than oil rig workers. After the sun peaked over the mountains the cup was full just solid ice.Maybe some day how low can they fly and the snowball.... could it go through the bubble? Doug

OK, I'm gettnig excited about the hike! My shiny new axe has pretty orange covers, grin (no crampons though)

Just a few logistical questions.

Are there bears in the area? Do we need to bring bear canisters? Are we cooking dinner Friday night or eating in Bishop?

Tents. I have an 8-person tent that we used in Yosemite the last week in Oct. Burrr... It was cold! Tent was quite drafty... My dobes kept us warm, but they aren't coming on this trip, grin So we got a heater but haven't tried it out so don't know how well it works, confused Should I bring it? If everyone's got tents already, I'll just bring my solo backpacking tent, smile

What time are you guys leaving Lone Pine, Doug, Mouse? Should I meet you guys in LP or Bishop?

Thanks!

Richard, Well if you are loaning I will borrow. Do you have an extra axe?
Crampons that are adjustable. Not that we will need but just in case. I think my micro spikes will be fine.

I will let everyone know if we have the suite tent or not.

Kristine, I plan on being in LP by 1:00 on Friday so we can hook up there and then car pool to trail head.. smile

Why don't we all meet at the Hostel? It's probably the most convenient. Doug can pick the meeting and departure times.

I'll dig up everything that I can find in my garage. (The rest of my gear is spread out in multiple storage areas around L.A.) I know I have at least another axe and crampon set.

Mike's bringing up my new climbing gear, ordered from REI, (Since it's right next door, he can't refuse a request to pick up orders.) so we'll have the stuff we need to do some climbing in the Alabama Hills if that's what we decide to do on Sunday.

Ok Richard, you have to take Carole off the list. She will not be going with us. Her hubby is keeping her and making her do wifely home things. NOT HAPPY HERE cry

Here is my questions? I know that Doug will be sleeping in his truck but what does everyone else want to do. I can bring the big tent (Carole said I couldn't break it) or r we going to do solo. I'm good either way.

Bummer! I'm cry also...

Mouse, I'm still planning on meeting you in LP and we carpool up to meet Doug in Bishop? I think I'll just rent a pair of crampons from Elevation also (just in case, the forecast is for less than 1-1.5" of snow).

Since the gang from up north will have their own gear and Doug's sleeping in the truck, that leaves just you, me, Richard and Mike, and maybe Lisa and Tom? Hmm... Just thinking out loud, I'm thinking about bringing my solo tent (thinking about privacy for changing in the morning, blush)...

First Arthur and now Carole?? cry

I'm bringing a bivy and solo tent. I'll decide which one to use when I get up there.

Make sure to bring warm clothing, the forecast shows "blustery" conditions for the weekend.

Kristine, Don't worry about renting crampons. I have a extra pair you can use if we need them.

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Dobemom, Yes we will still meet in Lone Pine and then head over to meet the boys..

It sounds like we are all going to go solo on the tents. If we go with one then Mike has his.. Just an FYI the big tent has two rooms. You can separate the boys from the girls. (No peeking) whistle
