I have the week between Christmas and New Years Day off and want to do a 3 or 4 day snow camping trip. Don't necessarily need to climb a peak, but would if one presented itself. Primarily looking for a beautiful area with decent winter access.
What's you favorite?

Head up to Toms Place and out toward Mosquito Flat and park at the snow park parking. Have skis or snowshoes and drag a cheap plastic sled with your gear out to Mos Flat as a base camp. You can stay low in the valley or head up over Mono Pass for day hikes. View south to Bear Creak Spire, Abbot,Dade etc. Here is a shot of Pyramid pk, climb from south side in winter. This area has about the best views one can find, especially in winter.

Pine Creek Canyon, camping at Honeymoon Lake, dayhike into the Royce Lakes basin or through Granite Park to Italy Pass. It's a bit more of a climb to get there, but you probably won't see a soul beyond the first lake.

Can you find the snowshoe track?

Like your thinkin' Ridgeline. Never been to Little Lakes Valley in winter, but having been there many times in the summer...I'll bet it's just stunning with a little snow.

From the westside I often go up to Sequoia NP via Lodgepole or Wolverton. In past years I've done Alta a couple of times and Silliman.

from Panther Gap

On the east ridge of Alta somewhere

Lassen NP can be nice that time of year too ..

Shasta sounds interesting... got dates yet? You gonna attempt the summit or just look around? I'll be in Tahoe around that time, maybe I could add Shasta as an extension to that trip.

Has anyone done any chunks of the Sea to Sea trail in San Diego? I've done a tiny bit (day walking Torrey Pines to Poway)

There are still some "unfinished" parts. Sounds kinda fun for a winter distraction and turkey walkoff.

Some of you folks have clearly missed your calling. These photos are stunning-amazing-incredible! Quillansculpture's idea of a Sierra photo exhibit would be a smash if you all pooled your talents.

Soulo - that's exactly when I'm supposed to be skiing in Tahoe... I'll let you know if I'm wrong about that. Some other time though and thanks anyway! Good luck, especially with conditions at that time.

I'm sure you already are well aware of this resource but for those that aren't:

shasta is my fav. If the snow is consolidated, and the weather good (neither likely) and I can get some time off (likely) then count me in...

These are great, great recommendations and inspiring photos.
Our team will make our destination decision over Thanksgiving.
Thanks to all who contributed - and still might contribute.

In order to avert a mutiny, I will need to delete the Caribbean, Hawaii and Kauai suggestions before sharing with my partners.

I was going to say the exact same thing that Rob did. I love going out of Wolverton and around the Panther/Alta/Pear/Silly-man area. Some amazing views.
