Tom, I've never even asked Kurt if he's willing to stay down in SoCal for a weekend climb. We've always done it on one of the convenient Fridays when he's doing a show that night.

Maybe it's time we (you) do... These climbs are always fun. Wouldn't bother me if it was on a Saturday so more can make it.

Richard -
The last one of these Baldy group hikes I did was on Saturday.
That was April of last year.

Speaking for myself these group hikes are easier for me during the week since I have 892 hrs of sick time on the books and daughter is in school.

But I understand the m-f working people who can't do that so if it's a Saturday no big deal more people just means I'll make a double batch of cookies...

That would be me. The reason I plan these hikes on a weekday is I'm in town doing slideshows at Adventure 16 stores. I usually have my days free. I use the days to go climbing, hiking, see friends, meet clients, eat at restaurants that serve food I can't get in Bishop smile smile :), etc. I just throw it out that I'm planning to hike Baldy on a given day and whoever wants to join is welcome. I understand it's difficult for some people to get a day off of work but for those who can play "hooky" for a day it's always fun to see them come on out and join in on the fun. I need to keep my weekends open for guiding though since that is when most of our clientele book trips. The one Saturday group hike that took place was when I was away on Mt. Everest in the spring of 2008 so I didn't plan it.

Given that it's a weekday sometimes people can break free and other times they can't so the groups usually consist of a few new folks every time along with some of the "usual suspects".

February 8, 2007 on the summit ready to ski and glissade down. Hopefully Baldy will have a good blanket of snow on it this winter!!

Next time I want to see Tomcat in one of these summit photos!!!!! smile smile smile smile smile smile smile

Thanks for the response Kurt -
Everest - well that explains why you weren't in my summit photo from last year. Tough to get away from work during the course of the year on a Friday - but one of these days.

You know, a few years ago we had back-to-back Group Climbs on Friday and Saturday. I've mentioned to some friends that I'll probably be staying in town to see the show on Friday night. I'd be willing to head back up on Saturday with you and anyone else that whats to do it (especially if there is good snow at that time).

Ok I'm in for Feb. 5th. I just have to get my gear together.

I'm thinking doing it two days in a row would be cool. A butt kicker but I'm down for that..

M-F workdays - yup, pretty much what I used to call them.

I'm in. grin

Hey Mouse - I'm going to go play in Mammoth after the hike. Wanna go with me? Bringing the XC ski's. I'm not good at it, but I have fun!

Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

I would like join too. Even though I have one of those M-F Jobs, I'll happily burn a precious vacation day to join this outing. I'll haul my skis up if the bowl gets enough snow by then.

Kurt/Richard I'm down if I don't get transfered. There's talk at my work they might be sending me to China to work for a 2-3 year contract. Hey if that happens, Kurt you'll have to come over and climb some mountains I'll be your Mandarin Chinese speaking guide, and you can be the Mountain guide....

Keep us informed...

There's plenty of great climbs over there. You could probably arrange for us to do an first ascent.

No reservations needed for the clinics. Just show up. It's usually best to get there a few minutes early. These clinics get well attended so it helps to get there early enough to get a good seat.

Hey Richard,
Looks like the China thing if it happens won't be till later this year. I'm in.
Curious two questions
#1 Was Feb 8.2007 the first official WPSMB Baldy Hike. On Kurt's smugmug that was the first one.
#2 I noticed all you guys had reg ski's no telmark ski's on that 2/8/07 hike. Is that true, I'll bring mine then.

Hi James,
I am in the hike. Thank you for asking me.
My computer failed on 24th of Dec. and got it back last week.
My friend helped me to put the system back as before.
I am connected now.

Thanks.
