Hi Quick update 19 great people to feed one great dog at every rest stop, snow was deep and soft at the start and turned into mud near the end of the hike, Perfect conditions . Gigamike said the elevation gain was 4700' or was that the spot elevation?

The best food ever , chili , salad and chicken simple fast and shared.

It think we might have a few pictures!

Thanks everyone that was able to make it under the most stressed weather we have had in years , we wil plan another hike when the snow clears .Doug

Thanks everyone for a great time. This was a rare opportunity to hike through the snow in the Alabama Hills. Thanks Doug!

Doug & Doug checking out the conditions on Friday afternoon.

Can you say bluebird? Saturday morning.

Starting "down."

Mike has had enough.

Back in town at sunset.

The rest of my photos.

This was a great time with a really great group of people. Sorry some of the gang were held at home due to the storms.

Some of us a already discussing a walk of the whole Thompson Trail in May. There'll probably still be some snow/ice on the NRT and the "desert" portion shouldn't be too hot, so it will be an interesting mix of terrain.

Thank You Doug Sr. for a great hike! It was good seeing familiar faces and new friends alike....I can't remember seeing such a snow cover in the Alabamas!

Regarding a May Trip: I'm hooked! laugh
