Thanks so much Kurt for a great day, and to everyone else for welcoming "1st-timers" Suzanne and I. We truly had a memorable time. My personal highlights? The cookies, Richard and his umbrella, Kurt's sherpa joke, and of course my personal Sherpani Suzanne for carrying my snowboard all the way (she rocks)!! I look forward to seeing you all on Mt Whitney this summer.

It was nice to meet you all yesterday and enjoy some of our Southern California winter splendor. My friend Phil and I (Phil is the one on the left with the skis in the trailhead group picture) stopped our ascent at about 9,000 ft. We decided that the near white-out conditions wouldn't be too good for a ski descent. We did ski back down from our turn-around point with some very challenging visibility. We stopped in at the Hut on the way down where Erin was keeping things nice & warm. Ken, Josh & (? forgot the other gentlemen's name)were also back at the Hut. We skied about half the way back to Manker Flat and reached our cars a little after 2:00.

We'll be making another attempt to take our skis to the summit of Baldy on March 7th.

Dear Richard,
Thank you very much for setting up another great hiking experience for Southern Cal hikers by driving such a long distance under bad road condition. Your presence, sense of humor, and your
experience made the gloomy weather a bit more tolerable. Thank you very much for looking after us.

Looking forward to hiking with you next time.

Shin
PS. I hope everyone look at your new fashion statement for unpredictable weather in mountains.

BOKAHSI - I love the way we create new terminology. (BTW, I changed it to BOKAH-SI on purpose.)

It was a fun climb, inspite of the foul weather. I've lost count already, but every walk in the mountains with you has been a blast.

I hope you didn't mind my testing your ability to inform us about where we were at on the mountain. I just wanted to make sure it didn't turn into another "Boundary." We needed to make sure we had a backup to Kurt's built-in Baldy radar. (120 degrees from the summit to the hut, right?)

Big question for Doug Sr.: How do you do it? (I think we all know what I mean.)

Rich,

Good to finally meet you and climb with you. I've seen your posts for so long and the great photos you submit now I finally put a face to the post.
and as far as the fashion statement........ I'm not sure if they are referring to the jeans or the umbrella. Either way it was a good day, considering the adverse conditions.
Jeff the name of the mountain is "Aconcagua". Did you happen to challenge San Gregonio yesterday or not?

Looking forward to the next group hike.

Richard,

A big thank you too for all you do. Your humor and guidance and good nature helped us all through a challenging...and incredibly fun day. Your photos (and Kurts, Carols and others) are awesome. Don't know how you can haul that camera and the fashionable rain gear up the hill. Kudos to the lone member of the blue jean crew. Sorry I could not hang out at the lodge, wanted to beat Friday traffic on the long slog home in the rain. Next time!

It was just a bit windy on top so we didn't wait for the main group. It was such a good turn out I didn't get a chance to meet everyone, maybe next time. Returning to a warm ski hut was a bonus.

Here is a shaky 360 degree pan of the summit.

Simon,

Think I'll leave the snowboard in America for that trip. Ha! I think I've been renamed Sherpani Sue!

You know I've spent all day loading pics and looking at other member's albums and this is really a family. I can't speak for everyone but I think of all of you as my brother's and sisters. Some maybe aunt's and uncles, JK, LOL!! I really enjoy our climbs together and especially the good times after reminencing about the day's climb. The mountains are a great place to make new freinds and bond with old. Becuase of my friendship with Shin I met Bob who is going to Argentina later this year. Thru Kurt I met Ron(see you Thursday night Ron). Thanks everyone and remember we are a family we will have our differences but in the end our love is the same. God Bless and can't wait till the next cimb.

Gotta have that Yeti love!!!
