Hey Jace, seeing from your last post that you want or have done snow creek I"m sure you've got the skills, but unless your parents come with you I don't think anyone can take responsibility for you. If something happens your parents can sue us, it's super sad that America has gotten to this point, but we are ruled by a nation of finger pointers. Hey but if I"m off base and someone in the group wants to shut Scolly up and take responsibility for ya than hey! Curious have you done snow creek before?

I would like to sign up if it's OK. I was planning on a trip in April/May but I would much rather do it with a bunch of experienced forum folks and locals. It will be great to meet the people behind the names.
Nick.

ya, im the 4th of 5 boys so they are pretty trusting in me. They also figure that it probably ends up being safer to go with a bunch of people who know what they are doing then trying to do it like alone, or with one other person who knows what they are doing too, or something. Im pretty mature for my age so they are good with it ya, but if you guys don't wanna take responsiblity for me, its all good, the mountian will always be there, right?

MC - may the peasants also join in? If so ... I'll be there (probably as an overnighter) - thanks, Tony B

Sounds like you need a CaT, as well. Only if the CaT doesn't try to eat the Mouse.

Hey Richard, This is allot of people so I'll state the obvious and be a jerk. Everybody whose signing up make sure your in good shape! Starting now get out and climb! Depending on conditions we might not be able to start at the Portal and it will be a long hike up. If anyone is interested I'll be doing Baldy this Saturday with my friend Adam and practicing Self Arrest in the bowl. My group will be practicing self arrest in the bowl for about an hour so if your not interested in that then don't come.

Hey Jeff, I'd be up there with you on Saturday if I didn't have a prior commitment. I'm planning on going up to the bowl on Sunday and doing some self-arrest practice with a small group, weather permitting. If anyone is interested in heading up, PM me and we'll coordinate the details. I'm going to be spending lots of time up on Baldy for the next eight weeks getting ready for the MR so if anyone wants to get some time on the mountain, let's do it!

Hi Not watching this thread since it looks like a great group and a good blend of experience. I call it the Whitney curse , (making the trip bigger than it is) if you can do Baldy this winter , the moutaineers route adds maybe a little more distance and about 1800' more vertical which you then just set your pace slower and add about two hours for the up.
After doing the Baldy hike with some of the group and seeing how you "roll" that is about all the tune up needed ,Slow down a bit take shorter breaks and stay focused.
I would think a final test would be Baldy trailhead to the summit /summit to SKI hut back to the summit and out. this would equal a if not exceed the enrgy output for the Mountaineers Route.
Now the ovenite group pack as much as you can get in your very nice large multiday bag and carry that to the Summit of Baldy this will equal your portage to the campspot on the Mountaineer's route. And as quoted many times "One can never carry enough stuff you don't use"!
Thanks Doug

Hey Jeff; my goal is to weigh less than you on April 16 and DEFFINATELY to be carrying less weight on my back than you. Let’s push each other in this dept for the next 57 days. Somehow I got left off the overnighter list. Can I be added?

Stating some more obvious:
- You don't have to make the summit to have a really good time up the North Fork. If you've never been there, you will be amazed.
- The Final 400' is real climbing and if you don't have the experience on steep snow/ice, any hesitation will cause a jam-up that a group this large can't afford. We'll be watching how things go on the climb up to camp the first day and (just like that other AH on the Discovery Channel who makes the go/no-go decisions on Everest) if we don't feel comfortable with your skill level, we will be advising you save the summit for a later date. (And because the group is this big, the ropes will be set up as fixed lines. We won't be able to do a normal belay with this many people and I won't do a running belay with a group of people I don't know/trust completely. Do some reading on ascending/descending fixed lines and get (to know) the gear that you'll need if you feel you need to use the ropes.)
