MC I think you know how freaking bummed I am right now because this was your trip and now we're in the same boat. We will be looking at pictures of a great trip that we're not a part of. Why couldn't this cold hit next week, then at least I could watch the NFL draft on ESPN. I forsee a Yeti depression in the near future.

Hey Jeff ,

I hope you feel better soon . I believe that in life , everything happens for a reason . You don't know it yet , maybe you soon will .
You made a tough choice , but health and family are near the top of the list of things to take care of , so don't feel too bad . There will definately be other trips .

Stay positive, Blue Knight. The way I see it, we now have a date with a Dragon and a Blonde... smile You made a good call (I was concerned when I heard you weren't going to get any sleep and you were sick). Hope you get well ASAP.

Just got home at 1:30 am, near Oakhurst CA. It was great meeting about a dozen or so of you wonderful folks - had a great time at LBSL camped out with Alan and Adam on Thu - a blast scrambling toward Russell on Fri and glissading down - and then ... you know about the light complexion of the Irish ... unfortunately I'm even a little extra light for my one-half Irish ... and with no sunblock for two days I enjoyed Sat icing my face in Doug's Room 4 and trying to make as much skin as possible stay on my face. Loved every minute of it, especially meeting everyone. And by the way, did anyone see the pizza delivery woman - I'm not kidding, it wasn't sunstroke - Fri about 5 pm she went running by my LBSL tent saying Hi, can't talk, got to deliver a pizza to Frog Pond - then at 7 pm running back down, saying got to get back down so I can get back up in the morning - then at 5 am Sat morning blasting by LBSL saying got to hurry to the summit, I'll see you there. After finishing some slideshows at A1 stores I hiked Baldy on Saturday with Jackalopes (Ron). We ran into a few other familiar faces including M Mouse (Ava), Sandi Carole, Biletchick (Stacy), Curtis, Norm, Sam Page, and Patrick. A couple pics are below. It was a great day on Baldy. It sounds like while we were there it was a great climb on the MR. Looking forward to hearing some stories tonight at the Hostel!

Congratulations to all!

Thanks for posting the pics Mark! It was nice seeing so many familiar faces. Blue skies… what a beautiful day! I love seeing the camaraderie – everyone looks like their having such a good time. (great pics of “tent City”). Some day I hope to get down to Whitney for a winter climb… but I’m really looking forward to August 31st!

Awesome trip does not describe it. This trip requires it's own thread. Pics coming soon, have over 200 to go through.

I just remembered I may have let someone borrow a 3L Camelback bladder but I can't remember who. If I get it back great and if not no worries, the trip was worth it.

Jeff, Yeti man, what can I say. Very sorry about the head cold but those things happen to everyone and not always at the best times. Not to worry we'll make up for it with other trips.

Mark, Shin, Cheryl, Tracy, Brandon, Arthur and everyone from the hypoxic crew, thanks for a memorable weekend. Will see you again soon I'm sure.

Ryan, thanks for the tent space. After seeing my face in the mirror this morning, I need zinc oxide badly!

Ellen, very glad to finally meet you! Looking forward to more hikes.

Nick, GigaMike, Matt, Adam, Wes, Dan, Mark (hope I'm not missing anyone), our camp neighbors, thanks for a great weekend, a great hike.

Richard, thanks for everything as always, fantastic job putting this thing together and being there to join in the laughs, the coffee, the amazing Sierra sunshine.

Matt (colo_matt), Jim (sierragator), Alan Arnette, Wes (my apologies if I left anyone out), thanks for sharing in great summit photos and that amazing climb.

Carol and Mouse, missed you guys (both on the mountain and at the hostel on Sunday), glad you made it to Baldy. Thanks for getting my lazy you-know-what up there for the overnight. And thanks to Shin too for telling me it was a must, it certainly was.

Laura, thank you, thank you, thank you, for everything. Hope the rocks were kind out there in the desert.

Doug and the hostel crew, you guys are the best. Doug has the best stories, information and advice and is a genuine great person. Thanks buddy.

Whew! To all mentioned and any I may have missed, I'll see you all in the mountains!

This was a long post I know but it was a truly great time in the mountains.

Richard, thank you for everything you did to make this such a memorable and rewarding experience. I think I can safely say for the entire group that we all had the best time up there! MC, we missed you, know that you were there with us in spirit.

Mark, great pix, excellent video of Holger doing the luge on the pizza box laugh and the delivery lady's name is Corina!! I could swear Mike said it was Katrina... crazy. An amazing woman, to say the least. No, Tony, you were not hallucinating.

Tom, thank you for staying up there a while longer, and showing our little contingent the fast way down the mountain cool, and staying with the BBC to get us down via the Elephant Ear with our heavy packs on.

I agree this trip needs its own picture thread..I will post my pix up on that one.

Tracie

Just want to add my quick thanks to Sir Richard for the planning and organization. Also to Jim and Bob for your company plus all the rest - a great group. Special thanks to MC in absentia for your vision to instigate the trip in the first place.

You know, I had some smart-*** remarks that I was going to tag on to the end of this thread, but will end it with this...

You guys were awesome up there. Everyone showed excellent decision-making. Everyone was keeping an eye out for others.

DMatt, thanks for being right once again. We couldn't have had better conditions on the mountain.

I'm riding a high, based on OUR success, that should last quite a while.

Look for an announcement from BMan in the next few days.

Looking forward to having time to look at all of the photo albums. We'll have to consolidate them to make it easy for everyone to see them.

Thanks Richard for cordinating this event. Amazing the number of people that showed up.

Lack of sleep, acclimation, and proper training hikes took it's toll on me. I bonked above Iceberg Lake and decided to turn around well before my goal. I made it to 13.5k; which is ok considering I have not been above 8k feet all year including hiking in Death Valley the week before.

Good to see many friends including some new friendships. I will be back soon. The mountain will always be there.

I had such a fun time this weekend, both from the mountain, and being part of this awesome group. It was great meeting so many passionate and supportive climbers. I'll be riding high from this trip for a long time. Such enthusiasm from everyone in the group, and Doug at the hostel made this a trip I will cherish always.

how far were you able to drive up? Did you start hiking at the trail head or at the avalanche on the road?

Just curious, Thanks Berne
