Thought about the 'crew' Friday and Saturday (even found myself checking the cam on Dave's blackberry). smile What a perfect trip; so happy the weather and snow conditions were as good as one could ask for. And as far as the people who were there... well, it's always about the people.

I was able to hike Silver Star mountain today. Also had perfect weather. More snow than we had thought; really lucked out. Spectacular views from the summit... (see pix below)

And... I'll be back. smile

Mt. St. Helens

Mt. Rainier

Mt. Adams

Mt. Hood

Mt. Jefferson

Stunning views from the summit 360°

James, great meeting you too! Glad to have shared the tent with you. It truly was an awesome trip. By the way, I had your Camelbak. I gave it to Richard and he said he would get it to you.

I just wanted to say that I’m sorry I missed this trip but it all worked the way it was suppose to… I was so glade that Carole and I drove up to see you guys come off that great beautiful mountain. Everyone was on such a high. It was great to see that everyone enjoyed themselves so much.

I haven't looked at the pics yet but will shortly. I just wanted to say CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU. grin

Of course you know it had nothing to do with being responsible and skilled mountaineers able to make good decisions. It must have been all luck. (sorry couldn’t pass it up) whistle

Doug as always, thank you so much for your hospitality. I always love seeing you.
Richard I’m so on the next one!!!!!!

Until we all get to hike again. I’m so proud of each and everyone of you guys and gals.

Given the great time that we all had, I think it was pretty much unanimous that we just successfully completed the 1st Annual Unofficial, Un-sponsored, Much Maligned, Non-WPSMB Spring Assault of the WMR! So, conditions permitting, anyone want to RSVP for same time next year??? I'll start it off with an "Aye!"

PS, we could hold a naming contest for the event. How 'bout something crass like:

The Annual "Culling the Rookies" MR Climb?
The Annual "Mission Impoxia" MR Assault? (Thanks JamesL for that...)
Even though she couldn't make it but it's her fault this all started: The Annual MC MR Spring Climb? (Haven't had the fortune of meeting you yet MC...)

How 'bout the annual "Being put in our place" hike? Simply loved James' TR.

I still have photos to upload and hope to get them all in tonight.

The only credit I can take is for the great weather/snow conditions... I picked April 16th-18th for Richard and me. smile Nice that you joined the 'crew' for your 1st CA 14er... Still hope to catch you on another one.

This was truly a fantastic trip and I want to thank everyone that had something to do with making it possible and making it successful. There are some really great folks here and I'm proud to have shared the trail with you all.

Also, it looks like my new integral designs unishelter bivy detached itself from my pack somewhere along the Ebersbacher ledges. I'm considering it donated to the trail at this point, but I'd be very grateful if it did somehow turn up...

BMan, AYE! Count me in! As for a name, I'm sure it will have many names and they'll all be good ones. I can see the 3AM cable TV ads now, some guy in a 70's leisure suit, "The Second Annual MC MR Spring Blowout, Everyone Must Go!" cool

Shifting gears for a moment. Thinking about a 2010 summer WPSMB group hike. At one time Richard had mentioned Candlelight Peak. Correct me if I'm wrong, no permits required? Different routes of varying terrain. Close to Doug's House of Hotcakes (aka Burger World). It could be a day hike or a camp out. A warm weather hike and a plunge into Lone Pine lake (are you allowed to do that?) Maybe September or earlier?

Thanks to EVERYONE for the fun this past weekend on the MR.

The view:

Multiple routes with no permit required for the day. Perfect!

I was thinking middle of summer to let those who can't break free from work, etc after summer ends join in on the fun.

Party at the Portal...

Mid-summer was mentioned, but would the weekend of August 21-22 work? My family has Whitney Day permits for Tuesday, August 31st, and Laura's going to take us up the MR (woohoo!!! ). I'm planning on coming down some time the week before though, to try to pick up a walk-in permit for Onion Valley-to-Whitney. I could just come down a little earlier for that weekend before.

This would also allow for any unexpected delays for M.C.'s house construction.

How about last weekend in July or first weekend in August?

Maybe this requires its own thread?

It was great running into your group at the summit. It was fun rapping down the final 400', thanks to Richard, Mike, and Jim for pulling my rope down and delivering it to Iceberg. It was rough skiing out with the heavy pack and the firm conditions but overall much faster than walking! See you on the next summit...

Let it also be known that about half of the climbers that rapped off the summit using our gear wasn't even in our group.

Also a special thanks to Andrew for helping with the rap stations. It definitely helped move everyone down quicker.
