Ok here is the new thread for the next group hike. End of July would be perfect. Whomever the group leader is should set the date and then we all can decide if it works or not. Lets start game!!!

Sounds like a fun trip but can someone tell an out of stater more about Candlelight Peak. I know it is off the NE ridge from Mt Irvine but would like to know the elevation and also the round trip hiking distance. Thanks.

From Meysan Trail - approximately 10 miles of class I & II with appr 4k feet of gain with easy route finding. From Lone Pine Lake - much harder route finding. Class III can quickly become Class IV and above. I would be interested in trying this - would be nice to find one or two with experience on this route.

I'm in. It'll be the perfect taper-down hike before I attempt to run myself into the ground over the following 10 days.
Tom: you and me on the Class 3 from LPL.

Fingers crossed the house will be completed and we'll be moved in by end of July. I'd be down for the day hike on the 31st. Won't commit yet; will have a better feel by June... I'd be leaving from Meysan Trail. MC

Mouse,
Sure I'll help out. Not sure what will be needed yet but we'll find out soon enough.
The distance sounds manageable and the days will be long. That should allow us to start after it's light and still have lots of time to hang out afterward.
The trout derby probably won't happen but the polar bear tournament might.
101 days and counting...

Mouse,
Thanks, now the pressure's on! Kidding. This trip will happen, we need a trip with shorts and t-shirts instead of parkas. That can and does always change but fingers crossed.
As last weekend's trip proved this group can move mountains to accomplish things. Looking forward to this one.

Richard, you up for it again? I can organize the Potluck. Two things: 1. I'll be going up the easy way if MC comes down. Otherwise I'll be heading up the NE Ridge. Depending on DMATT's forecast concerning T-Storms, it will be either real early, or fairly late (after breakfast at the WPS). 2. I'll put in an appeal for a BBQ up at the Portal. During the summer, I don't like going down to town until the weekend is over. Oh, and 3. The A-Hills will be too hot for climbing in late-July, so we should plan on getting reports from Doug on the climbing up near the Portal (if that's what people want to do on Sunday). There's definitely plenty of it, I just don't know where it is.
