Does any one know what Laura's plans were for this past weekend? Her employer, Pioneer Home Health Care, has not been able to locate her. She was expected at work this morning, and her car is not at her condo.
The Forest Service is checking the Meysan Lake trailhead to see if her car is still there; apparently, that was her planned starting point. It is not like Laura to fail to show up for work, so we are getting concerned.
If any one has any direct knowledge of her plans, please call Pat West, at 760-872-4663, Pioneer Home Health Care.

My wife and me, along with Steve C., wagga, and DUG had dinner with her at the Portal Store on Friday night, 06-11-10. We met her and DUG at the PS around 7:10 p.m.

She was last seen dropping off DUG at the Meysan Lake TH campsite before heading down the mountain towards Lone Pine.

The time was around 8:00 p.m. when we saw her tail lights off in the distance.

To my knowledge she made no mention of any plans this weekend to my wife and me unless she spoke to DUG, Steve or wagga.

Hope this helps.

I was starting to worry about her myself. She called me on Friday right before she left to meet with DUG and crew at the Portal. Her plans were to climb the Feather Couloir. From her description, and a t/r on Summit Post, it's a steep snow climb. I think one of the other climbers is Ray Regalado.
I hope everything is ok!!?!?!?

Kevin T - did you talk to her after the Facebook post?

We had the wrong info. Laura, Ray, and Paul went to Pine Creek Trailhead at 10 AM Saturday morning. Goal: Feather Lake and climb Feather Peak.
My wife has contacted the F.S. with this info. I am going to drive to the trailhead and see if her car is there.

Thank you!

I just got off the phone with Pat West and she's passing on this info to the Forest Service and SAR:

Laura, Ray Regalado and Paul Gary planned on climbing the North Couloir of Feather Mountain (37.325, -118.777). I got a message from her at about 10 on Saturday saying they were headed out. Their plan was to hike Pine Creek trail out to Royce Lakes Saturday, overnight there, then climb the couloir on Sunday then head out.

She was NOT headed to Meysan. I'll update as I get info.

Her SPOT shared page shows nothing -- never even activated the device at the start of her trip, which is unusual.

Just got off the phone with Inyo County Sheriff's Dept. Her car is at the trailhead and a copter will most likely launch shortly (after dealing with a situation in Onion Valley).

Paul and Ray carpooled from LA in either Paul's green Honda CRV or Ray's Audi sedan. Look for Paul's car in addition to Laura's at the Pine Creek TH. Let's see if either of those are still at the TH. I believe Paul was planning to do another peak in the area but was planning to hike out together.

I'm guessing Ray and Laura might move slower having to carry rope and technical gear.

I was supposed to climb with them but couldn't make it. My number is 909-576-1616 if anybody need to reach me. Keeping a close eye on this.

When in doubt, go up.

Stacy, if there is any new info on FB, can you post it here so those of us without Facebook access can see?

Glad your safe, MooseTracks!

You are going to have to explain yourself...

I am sure you are working on that TR right now.

Hope all is well.

What a relief!!! I wasn't going to leave my computer until we heard something!

Now that good news is in, I think Laura's going to have to brace herself for a little teasing smile

I just went from extreme panic to extreme relief in no time flat. As I was reading this post I was thinking 'I'm sure she's o.k.' But in the back of my mind I was preparing a quick trip down south to join the search party! So happy the Moose and co. are safe. Awaiting TR!!!
