According to CalTrans page, one lane is now open (midnight) and CHP is escorting traffic through both north and south. Hwy 190 is now also open, but note that the restaurant and bar at Stovepipe Wells had a serious fire and is closed for repairs.

It's still one lane as of 6:00am.

I'd recommend that you L.A. folks stay home this weekend. Cancel your permits so I can get one please.

I'd recommed that you local folks grab a shovel and start digging so we can get through............................DUG

I pulled up on the northbound closure yesterday at 5:30 and waited until it opened at 11:15. No fun!

Shouldn't we be doing this for you every weekend?

I have a better idea: why don't you go up and get permits for those of us who have a hard time arriving a day early? cool

............Dug, you need to call Crazy Chuck and get him to fly out from Florida. He'd probably shovel the road for you.

I've done this in the past and probably will in the future. If you can't get up here by 6:00pm, I can try and get a permit for you. There are a couple of conditions though:

1. It probabaly won't happen if it's a NF Overnight. Too few available.

2. If you're doing something interesting, you'll have to put up with me tagging along (up to about 5.9 that is).

My e-mail is available in my profile.

395 isn't on the CalTrans list anymore, so it must be open enough that CHP isn't escorting traffic...
Have you seen this? Was on ABC news tonight too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oOEWWH7QqE

395 is fine now, no delays. I came down from Yosemite on Sunday, 8-29 and the road was totally clear.
