Couldn't agree more:

Powered me up Whitney twice over the weekend! (Although I threw out the pies because they got crushed on the way up the first time.)

The food topic always amazes me, guess I am in this camp:

Most expeditions have some story about their food and attitudes to it vary from the haute cuisine of some French expeditions to the blunt assertion of Tilman, the famous eccentric and explorer, that he did not mind as long as there was some.

Went the junk food route this week. Subway on day one MR and Double cheeseburgers from Mickey D's on day two.

I remember some freeze dried enchiladas that were so hideous we dumped them on the ground. A marmot came by, took a couple bites, and puked.

LOL we buried some freeze dried turkey concoction on a backpacking trip one year. Camping food has come a long way since the mid 80's

Yes, those 80's backpacking trips...we took large cans of chili and peaches (what were we thinking?). Heavy. But wow, Laura and Kevin have got fine mountain dining down, definitely O-M-G!

Good to see Mike out there again!

Okay - need equal opportunity for bad stuff.

See 2 pictures, one of packaged trail food, the other where it comes from.
