I mentioned to Doug (......Dug) that Thor Peak would be another good one for Mike. I've got to focus on getting a few more Whitney summmits in in the next few weeks, but after 10/10/10 I'll be free to do other things...

Like another group climb up Thor? Someone want to pick a date?

Mike and I are penciled in for a C2C2C group hike on 09 October, but we can free up any other weekend. If everyone wants to do Thor on the 9th, I'll let him pick.....................DUG

Last week I was pointing out the Stemwinder route on Thor to our scouts while camped at Outpost and I told them about how we got "snowed out" last year. I might be interested in giving it another go if a group hike materializes.

Thanks Dave, I was just about to bump this thing back up to the top.

I haven't received a reply back from .....Dug, but 10/17 is Mike's birthday. If they haven't planned anything else yet, I think it would be cool if we have a big group to celebrate his birthday on the summit!

So, I'm tentatively suggesting 10.17.10 as the date...

I will be taking a group up the MT that weekend if we finish on Saturday. I'm up for joining the group on Sunday 10/17 for a Thor hike.

I would enjoy another group hike, especially Thor, but 10/17 weekend doesn't work for me. frown

Quoting myself...

We're (Doug (............Dug), Birthday Boy Mike and I) confirmed for 17 October 2010 for another climb up Thor Peak. (I hope the weather holds... even if it doesn't, maybe I'll get Mike an axe for his birthday and we'll still do it!)

The price of admission to this one is a gift... no, not for me.

Please RSVP (again) so we can come up with a list of people interested.

Hi there,

I hiked Mt Whitney on Sept 5th, 2010 and it would be fun going up Thor Peak. The pictures from last year's Thor peak climb look enticing. I live in the Bay area (Palo Alto). Would be great if I can carpool to Lone Pine with someone.

Let me know if I could join. I'll need to plan taking Monday Oct 18th off from work.

Thanks,
Jamsheed

I believe they'll be emptying the Store for the season starting 11/01, unless the snow comes early, in which case, Earlene is heading south for the winter.

Well then, as good neighbors we should get up there and start helping them empty the place out - one burger and one beer at a time.............................................DUG

Hi I meet this nice young lady awhile ago and I ask her if she liked motorcycles , mountains and odd jobs , I told her I would be going back to Colorado in a few years and maybe work with my brother or start another route buying used auto parts for rebuilders. So the 17th is the day we set aside to talk over the plans we started together 45 years ago. Earlene and I will be at the Portal but may have dinner sitting down and relaxing reflecting on how we never did get back to Colorado , my brother moving to California and those 1% er's on Earlenes Moms front yard several times. Thanks Doug
