I broke my leg while mountain biking around Movie Road on 4 Sept.
I was alone and unable to move.

I was rescued by the LP Fire & Rescue (LeRoy & Wendy), taken to LP Hospital - thank you to Dr. K.(?) and Kim and the nursing staff. Surgery in Bishop on 9/6 - thanks to the many people who got me through this. Back in Lone Pine: Doug at the Hostel, Diane & Guy and Ethan for securing my bikes and putting me up for a night while I got my self set for the drive home.

This was an ordeal and I don't wish to sound too dramatic but without the kindness and skill of these people I don't think this would be so tolerable now.

I was alone in Lone Pine and was in no condition to coordinate moving bikes and gear around the area and getting this all squared away till I could leave town.

Thank you everyone!

I am grateful and look forward to riding and hiking out there again soon.

Kevin O'Brien

I believe giving thanks, no matter if it seems dramatic or not is important.

You are right to do so and especially in an open forum such as this. I have found through the years that the folks in the Lone Pine/Whitney area are gracious and hard working individuals, who want you/us to come back year after year to share what they they see on a daily basis.
The beauty and lure of the Sierras and their hospitality are what keeps many of us making that drive up the 395 season after season.
