Had no problem with the ice/snow without crampons until just below the last 200ft to the summit. I then came down with not just one but two flat tires and not enough duct tape to secure them. Another fun day on Baldy

How is it that they both fall apart on the same exact day? Coincidence, or planned obsolescence?

Old fashioned strap under the foot gaiters are an effective substitute for the immediate application of duck tape.

Funny how these things happen in pairs. Photo from the parking area at the base of the Mt Yale trail west of Buena Vista Colo.

The photos are posted out if sequence 'cause I thought it more interesting.

Get a room!
What's this all about, anyway?

Oh, I guess someone's getting married.

Engaged on Baldy. Married on Whitney?

BTW: It's Stacy and Curt.

Congratulations!

Thank you so much for the pics Richard (and for coming down to LA for the 5th? week in a row...lol!) It was great to have everyone there.
For the record, I really had NO IDEA he was going to do this...but I couldn't have asked for a better situation. An awesome group that I have a tremendous amount of respect for and enjoy hanging out with...it was just perfect!
The Mt. Whitney wedding thing might just happen.
Can you think of a better ending/beginning to this story? wink
Thanks again and hope to see ya soon,
Stacy
ps: could you email me these four photos in full res? BiletChick@aol.com

Yes, when I get home from work this evening. I have a few more that I didn't put in the album that I'll also send along to you too.

Hi After a week of travel , ending with a great hike, the proposal and a slide show all in one day will be a new record to be beat. Meeting Cindy and seeing her slideshow sets the benchmark for what a person can do once the course is set. It was an honor for Earlene and I to be able to see your dream !Thanks all for sharing your day .Going to Everest and flying with the Eagle, learning that Marks dad is fine and walking with Ron on the way up, finding out we live somewhat close in the southland , Tracie will be buying a new couch (at least) and the rest of the group I meet for the first time it was a great day!Shin and Richard will work on the camera grip and will be on the market by this time next year. Thanks Jeff for the details bringing everyone to the mountain.

Thank you from both of us Richard. It really was an honor to have you, Shin, Doug and the rest of the group there.
I will be forever humbled by the accomplishments of the hikers and climbers on this board.
I wonder what the combined "summit count" would be for our group? I'd bet it's into the thousands! wink

Thanks again for capturing our moment!
Stacy & Curt

Thank you for being there Doug! Your presence made the hike for us (Curt especially). You got us started on winter hiking with the Alabama Hills Snowshoe Hike. If it wasn't for the great time we had on that hike, we would never have even thought about hiking on snow or Baldy, for that matter!
Thanks for everything...the hike itself, the conversations during, and for lunch afterwards! smile
Props to Jeff for organizing everything!

Stacy & Curt

ps That heater/fan contraption did have a label and some kind of serial # tag on it. I'm still trying to read it from the picture, but it came out a little blurry.

Saturday was a fantastic outing, especially was glad to get a chance to see Doug and Richard down from the north, a wedding proposal on the summit, and everyone's conversations before, during and after the hike. Great day - thanks to Yeti for putting another one together - Sorry Cindy I had plans already could not make the presentation, let me know well in advance for the next time - so I can get a seat smile

Feeling bad that a solo hiker is out there for two days - praying that she is OK and will come home safe.

Doug thank you for your kind words smile and it was great to meet you. I do not get up the Whitney as much as I would like. The past three years have been a whirl-wind of climbing and training. And now I am on my Rare Disease Awareness campaign. It is truly amazing what we can do if our hearts are in it. Summiting Everest - I still find it hard to believe blush
