This year's theme is CHANGE...

I spent more than (parts of at least) 35 weekends up in the Lone Pine area last year. I'll try and prevent withdrawl symptoms by scaling that back by (maybe) 10 this year.

I still need to make good on last year's resolution by doing some more overnights...

BTW, I've heard Sun Chips has some eco-friendly deal with Walmart going on right now.

Great stuff Richard! Looks like you guys had a good time.

Any guess on the depth of the snowpack above the ski hut? The ski area is claiming 3' to 4'.

I'd guess those are accurate estimates. We couldn't see the rock shelters on the summit (they were covered).

There's definitely enought snow to ski, although there was some nasty wind crust when I was there on the first.

Climbed the bowl today, for anyone interested it's in great shape. Lots of sun this week has consolidated nice, both the straight shot from the ski hut and the main trail look good.

Thanks for the info!! I ended up having a job interview today, so I couldn't get up there.

Green Mountain Boy is absolutely correct. This is the time to go up the bowl! I went up the straight shot (Zen Chute) yesterday (1-7-11), and it was superb. The great thing about going up during the week vs. weekends is that there's no one else up there. I saw three snowboarders going up the east side to board down the west bowl and one skier on the west bowl, that's all.
