I'm glad my mountain accountant is coming along... he can let us all know how many participants there are going to be.

And since he's such a great negotiator, I think he should start working Doug and Bob R to come up and provide some real mountaineering tips.

Just saw this... New house will be complete but not sure my knee will be completely rehabbed. Waiting for the call back from the orthopedic surgeon to schedule appointment; he is the best and normally does not take new patients. I had to wait till the house was close to being done before scheduling as I could not afford to be laid up. Anything is possible and if I get the 'go ahead', I'll be there... I WILL be ready for Orizaba. smile

Howdy All,

I would love to try the MR in the winter again this year if you'll have me. Hope to see my mountain sisters Mouse and Carole again as well.

Note -- don't take antibiotics or iron supplements the week before hiking the MR. Otherwise you'll be packing out too many wag bags. (I shredded my legs bushwhacking on a desert hike the Sun before the MR and was on antiobiotics and iron -- may have contributed to the err...wag bag usage)

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Peter cool

95% sure I'll be there plenty early - current plan has me arrive in the area around March 21, then doing a few things on ski and snow shoes as warmups. Then I'll take a look at doing the long White Mountain West Ridge and maybe a Main Trail Whitney as final warmups for the MR on the April Fool's weekend.

if anyone else is going to be around early, holler, and we can hook up.

Ok Richard, I'm going to make the group even bigger. Add me and Tina to the list. The more the merrier, right?

I could join you for that one. My plan was to do the the entire main trail, but may do that a few days earlier as well.

I'll have plenty of time if my current schedule gets upset by high winds or other show-stopping conditions earlier in the trip. For much of the week before April 1, I should be in the Lone Pine area. I'll be online whenever I can to check in so we can coordinate meeting at the hostel or somewhere else.

First off: I'm OFFICIALLY not planning this, so someone take the lead.

Second, I haven't spent nearly enough time at altitude and don't think I feel like doing drugs to be able to make the summit in a day, so I'm glad it sounds like most are wanting to do this as a weekend. (BTW, this is going to be two years in a row that I didn't meet the "more camping in winter" New Year's Resolution.)

Shin and I had a coversation over dinner last night as to when the Peanut Gallery was going to start causing trouble again. We all know they are chomping at the bit...

Richard, can I just change your wording a little from "I'm OFFICIALLY not planning this" to "I'm not officially planning this?" grin

Tracie, meet up times are heavily dependent on the road being opened or closed. Plus the time to fill up on McD's fresh brewed joe.

Ryan/Tina, great to have you along!

Richard, no worries oh wise leader...uh uh...I didn't mean that. Bman...good one. grin

James, does this mean you're taking the lead? Maybe you should make it "unofficially official" or "officially unofficial", or just "not officially official"...Ohhh, never mind... crazy

Ryan, I've got a headache. sick

What is official is there is no leader. Like last year those in attendance will use utmost common sense and take precautions, make wise decisions, etc.

There I said it. Now back to our regularly scheduled banter. cool
