Has anyone hiked Mt. San Gorgonio - South Fork trail recently?

Looking for trail conditions in regards to snow shoes, crampons, etc. Planning to go there the weekend of June 17/18.

Thanks

I was up last month - while I cannot comment on current conditions, if you need detail on the route I could perhaps help.

Thanks RAC. We are planning to hike via the dry lake.
How were the conditions when you were up there?

Howdy Sam,

Check out: http://members.boardhost.com/sgva/

Trail is fairly clear of snow up to Dollar Lake, then patches (easily crossed) before Dollar Saddle. There's snow on the trail between Dollar Saddle and San Gorgonio, but this should be fairly easy to negotiate. I've only been on the Sky High Trail from Jepson to San Gorgonio and from below Charleton to Dollar Saddle. We carried microspikes but didn't need them.

The north side (trail up from Dry Lake) still has a lot of snow. I haven't been up this way nor seen a trip report. Recommend going up and back via Dollar Saddle. If desired, you can attain the ridge and stay towards the south side.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Summited via the South Fork Trail and Dollar Lake on Sat., June 18th. Most of the route is pretty much clear of snow, but the heavy snows have roughed it up a bit. Trickiest part is just past Dry Lake View, where a bit of route finding was necessary. We also brought our micro-spikes but didn't need them. Took us 14 hours roundtrip, but strong hikers could probably do it faster. Despie all the snow, the last water is at South Fork Meadow, so don't forget to fill-up before going higher.

Thanks wildstallion.
We hiked the weekend of June 17th and 18th via Dry lake route. There is pretty much snow there above 10,200 ft.
