Bad luck. My group was there last week (Thursday); beautifull weather. The Merced and all of the falls are insane. The rangers check the permits (didn't need my ID) just before starting up the subdome. I have a plug for the Yosemite Bug Hostel outside of Mariposa, past Midpines going up 140. Great place to stay.

Hopefully somebody can use your permits.

Did you find someone who could use your permits? I would love to hike Half Dome on the 18th if you still had them and were willing to mail them to me. I took my 7 and 9 yr. old up there with me last year, and made it to Sub Dome, before my 9 yr. old decided the cables were too much for him. So, I'd love the chance to summit the top this year.

When I went they stop you at the bottom of the sub-dome. The rangers had some passes (unused ones from earlier groups.)and gave me one when I was there.

Check out http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/hdpermits.htm
A hiker I met yesterday on the way up said the park was issuing 50 permits each day for the following day (day-before release). He had gotten a permit this way, and gave some unused permits for the same day to the ranger below Sub Dome in hopes that other hikers could use them. Thank you so much, hela, for transferring your permits. It was fun to do the hike with my 9yr. old daughter. I hiked Whitney without her on her birthday (July 6th) due to the lottery, so making it to the top of Half Dome together was a spectacular way to celebrate her life!
