I agree, play it by ear and don't be discouraged yet! The snow and ice I ran into was really nothing to worry about. I wouldn't go trail running at the spot right after Trail Crest, but there really wasn't much exposure on the sections where there was ice then (assuming ice and snow forms again in the next couple of weeks).
Hiked the big one in one day yesterday. 22 miles in 12 hours. I was lucky to get a permit. I never participated in the lottery but called The Easter Sierra Interagency Center for any cancel reservation days before, and of course got one. My single day solo climb was great. I met a lot of nice people on the trail and the weather was great. Here is my video of that great day You tube
