As usual, great slide show tonite in Tarzana by Kurt on Kili. Great raffle, too. My feet will not be cold!

Someone won that great Suunto watch.

If you are free Friday in LA, you should try to catch the show in W LA.

Not that I'm proud of this initial mis-fire,
but unforeseen work issues have caused a change of plan for me.

Wish I could catch Kurt's show tomorrow.
SMI photos are fantastic.
I'm certain I've never met Kurt, because it's obvious if you've met him, you wouldn't forget him.

Hope to meet you in the future.

Enjoy the hike! Ciao!

Awesome day on Baldy with Kurt! Good friends, good hiking, good weather, great mountain - what more could you ask for on a Friday!!!!

At the Hut:

note: it was warm on the hike up, but the best 'summit' weather I've ever seen!

On the summit:

(Look who is hiding in the back! wink It's always an honor to hike with you Doug! )

I really enjoyed joining the group today. It was a good hike and darn good reason for taking a day off work.

I was surprised by how many people came up from San Diego. Keep me in mind when you're hiking close to home. I enjoy my trips to the Sierra's but I also enjoy spending time on fun SoCal mountains like Baldy, San Jac and Gorgonio. It would be fun hiking together again.

Hi all. Had a really good time today on the hike and also enjoyed meeting all of you. If I'm not mistaken I think that we started around 6:30 and summited around 10:30. See you all next time!

Started 0630, summit at 1000. A few breaks along the way of course, spent quite a bit of time at the hut on the ascent. Started down at 1040, trailhead at 1255.
Cindy, we were waving to you from the summit.
A few pics from today...

Nice sunrise plus we got to see the remnants of a just-past full moon.

Kurt demonstrating the no-hands rock along the trail.

Lead group is just getting to the summit.

We had the top all to ourselves.

We didn't have Joe to pass out Snickers to everyone this time but we did all have some cheetos.

It was a really good day out there, I'm glad I got to meet a few more people. Was starting to get warm but a very light breeze on top meant it was comfortable. Could really sense the rising temps on the way down.
Kurt, thanks for braving the early LA traffic. Doug and Richard, thanks for making the long drive down to spend a few hours with us in SoCal.
You kids have fun in Mexico!

Thanks everybody who came out for a great hike on Baldy and for all of you who came to the slideshows! It was great to catch up with so many folks on this trip south.

What a warm pleasantly beautiful day it was on Baldy!! A few pics are below. The rest are here: Mt. Baldy October 14, 2011.
