My Archive of Whitney webcam images is now capturing the 'Large' version of the new camera. The videos I'm generating and archiving have a frame interval of 2 minutes now, much better than the 10 minute interval from before, but not even close to the 15 second or so interval that the home page time-lapse has.

Kudos for the upgrade! smile

btw: the 'Web Cam Notes' needs to be updated to reflect the new camera setup.

The webcam appears to stop producing new images after a certain point in time in the evening.

Could this time be pushed back? As it stands now it's stopping early, before sunset. If there were to be any alpine glow we'd miss it because the webcam has stopped for the day by then.

Loved seeing the moon set behind Whitney on today's replay (7-19-11) between 9AM and 10AM.

Is that the weather at the camera location, or at the Portal?

really nice shot of a large bird flying directly into the webcam at about 9 seconds into the video. Hard to stop the video there, but give it a couple of tries. It doesn't look like a raven. More like a hawk.

I'd love to get a still of that shot.

Looks like the camera froze up. Probably from the high winds?

Is it the Whitney cam that froze up or is it a true "white out" up on Whitney? Posts and climbers seem to go hand in hand with the traffic this time of season: scarce! Well 'Tis that time of year to "hunker down", or for myself, being above Cali in Oregon, "Hunker-up", hence- yours truly! Merry Christmas to all!
What do you call a rich elf? "Welfy". Okay, enuff, I know.

Thanks for trying, but it's down again frown
. . .
ok, I see it's kinda up.

The image at http://whitneyportalstore.com/webcam/whitney_1920x1080.jpg isn't getting updated with the latest image. Since that's what's I'm archiving, and that image isn't changing, the archiver thinks it's down.

Doug,

Thanks for getting the webcam back online. It's looking mighty wet and nasty today. I can't wait to see Thor Peak when the clouds finally part.
