Started: May 19, 2012
Finished: July 29, 2012
Days to complete: 62 (10 days of walking)

Section Stats:
1. Whitney Portal to Shepherd Pass: 39 miles.
2. Shepherd Pass to Onion Valley: 36 miles.
3. Onion Valley to Taboose Pass: 40 miles.
4. Taboose Pass to South Lake: 45 miles.
5-6-7. South Lake to Red's Meadow: 90 miles. (4 days.)
8. Tuolumne Meadows to Red's Meadow: 37 miles. (Only section done North-to-South.)
9. Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley: 28 miles.

So I did approximately 315 miles for the 211 of the JMT.

Awesome experience! Can't wait until I get to do it again... wait, I'm heading in to Rae Lakes in about a week... see you can't stay away.

I do need to go back and do the climb out of the Valley to Tuolumne Meadows.

Here are a few photos from the last section:

Wish I were with them.

Passed thru loads of pretty meadows.

Nearing the end in Yosemite Valley.

Worn-out footwear.

Congrats, Richard!

I'd not had a chance to mention it, but I missed you by one day when you hiked past the intersection with Mono Creek. I was camped there the next day on a trail crew for a week.

Sorry I missed you.

No trip to Rae Lakes is complete without ATLEAST a day spend in the 60 Lakes Basin! IMHO.

Congrats on finishing (10 days crazy)! I'll take just about as long next time I do it (to reach the halfway point).

Thanks for all the pictures, now I know what i'm going to do during my conference call at work today.

Doc, I crossed paths (and got passed - they can move) by Trail Crews three times... remembered to thank two... can't say enough about how much more difficult things would have been if the trail and tree crews hadn't done such a stellar job!

Sorry I missed you too. Haven't seen you in too long.

Todd, really, I can't wait until I can do this thing with about a bazzillion side trips.

Thanks.

Congrats Richard, awesome accomplishment cool
Thanks for sharing the virtual JMT tour, logistics and great photos.
As you know, this JMT day-care challenge is also on my bucket-list. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cheers,

Thanks RG.

I'm still kicking myself for not thinking about what Tyndall Creek would look like in the late-afternoon on that first day... if I have any regrets, it was that I ended up doing 30 miles of extra walking because of that mistake. The rest of them (mistakes) just made the hike a little different.

One of these days, I'd like to have the east / west shuttle figured out so that I can do those sections as day-hikes. Keep me in mind when you go for it...

Beyond an incredible accomplishment! Definitely one for the record books. You should turn it into a book. Time for a new pair of boots.
