No permits, but you might need an Adventure Pass for parking (?) I'm not sure if you still need those to park at Manker Flats. I think they honor the Nat'l Parks pass too.
Does anyone know for sure? We haven't been up for a while...
A certain person (KW) just throws the parking tickets away...lol
Moved to Bishop in 2012 and haven't looked back since...

HI All,(We Might have to reserve the entire Baldy Loge for the Whitney Gang)
I posted the event on FB but some of you aren't on facebook. We are going to celebrate Shin's #300th summit of Mt Baldy an impressive feat. Meet up is at Manker Flat at 6:15am. We will go up the ski hut trail wait on the summit for everyone for a group photo then head down to lodge for grub, spirits and great times! Shin is working on getting someone to open the hut incase of weather issues or someone wants to stop at the hut and warm up.

Hey Dude that keeps tearing down our windbreaks on the Baldy summit if your are a man show up on the 15th and tell the group why you are doing what you are doing! I'll actually respect you a little bit for doing that! But alas you are a coward and a spineless fool that has no friends and nothing better to do than vandalize what others enjoy!!!

Karin I'll add you next time I make an update. Two things to add is Shin is trying to get someone to open the Hut for our group in case of bad weather the Hut could be our summit or in case there are people who don't care to go for the summit. The hut is really nice in bad weather.
Also I'm hoping Doug makes a special appearance he is also nice and brings up the rear to make sure nobody get's lost; in his absence we can nominate Richard to wear blue jeans and bring up the rear he may even bring his umbrella!!!!

Doug wrote above that he is coming (first page of posts that has now rolled over). We're talking about doing an earlier start than the larger group so that folks like me who'd like to be able to go at a different pace can do so comfortably. Weather permitting, I am going for the summit! Fer sure!

We can test Shin to see whether he's learned how to do a proper imitation of KW. (I've been complaining for years that he goes out too fast and burns himself out.) Or maybe KW himself can come down for this.
We don't need to break up into groups. The fast folks can take this as a lesson in Patience.
BTW, I'm going to get some exercise now.

Ken and I will be driving up together, and I'm a little nervous about the comment regarding possible challenges in finding the trailhead parking lot; I'm hoping that at some point I can follow someone up that morning. I'll send you my # on FB. We can try to meet with you. Cell reception is spotty to non-existant once you start driving up the mountain. We take the 57 north to the 210 east exit Mountain, turn left. We could try to meet you in the residential tract north of the freeway...
