OK since my fellow Czech Pavel will be there...Is he also carrying a 12-pack of Pyramid IPA?
Jeff, please add me to the list. I plan to attend plus one, friend's first trip to the summit so we might also be in that crowded but popular last group.

Question. Currently, looks like no snow up through the 15th for Mt. Baldy. In fact, the reports call for clear and 5 mph winds on Saturday. As I am leaving Washington state early tomorrow morning, I'm thinking of not lugging all my winter gear. Is that a safe bet? Thanks! MC

M.C. Looks like Richard brought a few extra jackets last trip so we should be fine just following him. OK so working on summit attempt now. Recall the Thor attack? the slow group positioned from the extreme last position waiting for the elite group lead by axman to clear the slope until we could rocket Carole to the front cutting off the elites and take the lead. This follows the wind dummy theory never jump until someone else has tested the air. So if we have fresh snow/high wind we will hold back until the short section just before the summit then charge, but if the the fast group summits with high wind we will stall until they have rebuilt the shelter then we will move up for the photos, cookies and shared trail mix which we will not carry since the elites always have that stuff!Doug

Plan works for me, as long as I don't have to wear cotton. I like my frou-frou, REI-purchased, not-a-single-natural-fiber-except-maybe-some-merino-wool-from-pampered-lambs-in-New-Zealand, gear.

I will bring a copy of this plan to be sure it is executed without a hitch.

Since I've finally stopped laughing...
My wife bought a restaurant today (funny how she didn't admit to that until after couple of hours of me asking her what she was going to do had passed...) and told me I can't go to the mountains for a while...
Yeah, right...
I didn't tell her that I've volunteered to work at the WPS next summer... she'll figure it out when I'm still missing on weekends.
Remember... cotton kills... but Doug and I and a few others have managed to prove that's not true. Blue jeans are actually very comfortable. I might have a down jacket or two in my pack...
BTW, I'll be cruising along in my favorite position unless Cori asks me to yield it to her... The rest of you better not argue...

On short hikes (not in snow) I still wear blue jeans. And I love cotton (I just bring an extra cotton shirt for when the 1st one is soaked)...

LOL!!! Oh, Doug, I do love your sense of humor!!! And I can just picture you saying all this with a straight face, and then breaking out in that big grin of yours!
Love the pictures Richard! “A picture is worth a thousand words!” … and four pictures tell the whole story! What a great hike that was, and I think this upcoming Baldy hike is going to be in that same category!

Doug, that is so funny! But a seriously great strategy! Talus and I are looking forward to this. There may even be some Tutu sightings Everyone surprised Shin on his 200th.

I made sure Shin is ready for ShinDig300 next Saturday.
Just a bit windy, but at least the shelters have been rebuilt.

Hi Thanks for the weather update , So on the Whitney weather I would watch the NOAA SITE OUT IN THE OCEAN ,This system is west about 2500 miles now but large enough to do something , Notice the void in front of the system , this may move the mass north or south in the next few days . NOAA SITE go to the infra red/or water vapor and click western states 16 KM LETS SEE IF IT WORKS Thanks Doug
