Some of you know I like mountaineering quotes.
Here is the best one for this wonderful occasion that I was so glad to be a part of. I modified it to the plural because there were so many of us!

Shin's 300 is the really big news, of course, and I am not sure of his age, but....

Did anyone else talk to the nice older couple Martin and Edith (with the German accent)?

She is 74- has done Baldy 175 times as of "our" day. Started when she was in her 60s, now 74. Hubby Martin "only" has 145.

Ya they love hiking. I ran into them last weekend at Crossroads a local hangout for dinner....They were hiking in Josh last weekend their great people. Martin's rebuild the windbreaks a few times now...Baldy has the best people on earth!

Shin is a modest guy who has done all 300 summits since (I believe) 2004.

Meet John Wedberg (father of Kurt). This picture is on the wall of the Ski Hut. I believe that the total listed is 765. And it is not the Baldy record -- there is a at least one guy with over 1000 summits.

I can't even begin to describe how special this Baldy Hike was for me, and being there to participate in Shin's 300th Baldy climb!

My brother Ken and I took off early Saturday morning and met Stacy and Curtis before light and followed them up to the trailhead (thanks again, Stacy and Curtis!). We were some of the first to arrive, and as each vehicle pulled up it was like a wonderful reunion!

It was the first time for me on Baldy. Ken and I knew we probably weren't going to make it to the summit - our family Christmas Party was scheduled for early Saturday evening, so we figured we would have to start heading down by 1:00pm.

Baldy was so beautiful in the snow - there was just enough to make it stunning but not enough to be a nuisance. But as much as I enjoyed the mountain and beautiful, snowy scenery, there is nothing that could rival the joy I felt being with my mountain friends! I had a most wonderful day, visiting with old friends. And it was great to finally meet some of those people, like Harvey, whom I’d known for years on the board, and finally was able to greet them face to face. What a treat it was to meet Sonja – what an incredible woman! We had SO MUCH FUN in the ski hut, laughing and visiting with everyone else there. Paval(sp?) was an amazing host!

Thank you again, Jeff, for putting this all together… what a character you are! Most especially, thank you Shin for letting us join you on this special day.
