Got my email 30 minutes ago and it came from the 'SuccessfulLotteryNotification@recreation.gov' address.
I got a permit and on my first choice of dates! Yea!!! We leave the Tuesday after Labor Day for a 3 night lazy type of mountain enjoying, granite kicking and altitude loving trip.
Who else hit?

Got ours! Not first choice but a good date nonetheless. All of us but one are over the age of 60.

Hi I thought they would start sending out notices before next month Great they are , So next question is it clear that you neeed to confirm and is it printed somewhere on the page in red or BOLD PRINT? Now going to check the open dates see if they are posted yet.
Thanks everyone for the updates !See you on the Mountain well from the kitchen as you pass by. And like they say Gosh you are lucky to get this job?Doug

The good news is that I got my MT Whitney lottery email this morning: "Successful Lottery Notification @ recreation". The bad news is that while I put in for eight overnight entry dates in August and early September, I was given May 6th as my entry date. As several other people (including some here on the message board) have had happen to them, when I hit the ENTER button the web form on the rec.gov MT Whitney lottery page changed some of my dates after I had filled in all the boxes with the Summer dates that I was available. I just got off the phone with the rec.gov customer service agent, and was told that they had heard from other people with same date switching problem. They had other reports of people requesting dates in August, and getting an entry date in May. The rec.gov agent said that there was nothing they can do, and referred me to the Inyo permit office. I just tried to call them and got voice mail. I told the rec.gov agent that Inyo won't be able to help me with a reservation web site problem, and she agreed that I was probably correct, but she said that the Inyo people need to contact rec.gov managers and tell them that rec.gov has a problem with their lottery website form retention. As for me, she said I was out of luck.
A week after I put in my dates (after going back and repeatedly filling out the date boxes that I had just filled in) a buddy of mine had so much trouble trying to get the form to retain his lottery dates that he called rec.gov, and they KNEW that they had a problem with the site not retaining the entered dates. He was told by the rec.gov agent that one had to enter the dates into the form, and then wait about ten seconds before going on to enter the next set of requested dates.

I have not received any response on my application yet, check the spam filter too. Does anyone know if the emails still go out later in the day or do they all go out in the am?

For those of you that received successful notifications, have you gone to the rec.gov site to see if your lottery applications now reflect your success as well?
If have no news as yet. In this digital age I would have expected all notifications to be issued within seconds.
I am still hopeful. If this fails I will try for a walk-in permit.

Per the email, we have to wait to accept and pay. Man, I am impatient.
"To claim this date you must log into your profile during April and pay the $15 per person reservation fee.
Accept or Decline by April 30th Midnight Eastern Time or the reservation will be canceled.
Acceptance Period: April 1 - April 30, 2013
To accept, log into your Recreation.gov profile and open your lottery application.
Complete trip information, verify group size and pay the balance due. "

I got my results and ended up with a yes for May 12th. Not one of the dates I put in. This really Sucks. Thank-you MR. Government for making a simple process complicated, wrong and unfair. I also got to waste $6.00 and time just for entering.

Dont,
It looks like you were bitten by the same RECREATION.GOV system error that got me.
We both were given permits for an entry date in early May that we didn't even apply for.
What a system.
