And then, as we topped over the Notch on the descent, I knew was home...

Saddest part was that Dave Kirk, the ranger stationed up on the MR most of the summer, simply stated:

"Job security."

Stay classy, world.

That's BS, no wait it's HS...not horsesh*t but humansh*t. A human, with a human brain, left a plastic bag full of their own TURD on a beautiful mountain.

Good times.

Laura is right if you can not clean up after yourself ,or stay home. Nobody else wants clean up after you, we all have to follow this rule...

Was there anyone on the summit who might have left it to pick up on the way down? Wishful thinking most likely.

I wish, James. But no, we were the only two up there this Sunday. Was also really disappointed to see the damage to the brand-new door on the hut:

Rob Pilewski was especially sad to hear about that.

Stay classy, world.

Yes. I am from the inner city. I confess, I stole the door knob for my door knob collection. I apologize.

Better idea: give ME the key. It'll be another 2 1/2 years before I summit again...

Yup. Us inner city folk are into recycling these days: Manhole covers, Streetlamp fixtures, doorknobs...

Oh boy did i set myself up for that one . Okay i get it- and i made an ass umption .. So when your finished with all your collections of odd mechanical devices maybe we can just put another one on. Good to see you were quick to correct my clerical error , and human judgement, of the inner city ..

Ok, moving on.

It was my understanding that the hut was always open (it was when I was there a couple autumns ago) Did they lock it after replacing the door? (and - hopefully -- someone was real cold and needed shelter)

Tip of the hat to Davey! Whose adventures, by the way, have me enthralled.

There's a better half to that team.....

BTW: HS of various species, Yak S, etc are all too common over here, along with the occasional streamer of toilet paper....

Tee hee! I hope that the 'inner' joke was not lost: the items I listed ARE the things being stolen in the inner city BY the inner city (and promptly deposited at equally unscrupulous dealers for the metal $$$$)

And yet not everyone in the inner city is a thief, and most are not.

I don't have a manhole collection, but if I did, I'd be happy to share a few for Laura's training program. The pics would be priceless.

It would double as a cast-iron pizza pan.

Wait: have I already put thought into this???

Or a supersized-springerle cookie mold. Even bigger than Doug's pancake. Gratuitous picture of springerle cookies follows.

getting back to the turd.... my dad taught me a way to clean up a recurring dog visitor leaving dog crap. Pour bacon grease or other suitable desireable on the pile and voila it is gone the next day. Could we do this with humans? use some of Doug's leftover grease or pancake syrup and see if the human will get to it first? that would just desserts, pardon the pun
