A friend of mine and I are thinking of doing Candlelight Peak sometime this summer. My question to those of you that have done this peak before is which way is better, or a bit easier, to come from. From what I have read, you can either go up to Lone Pine Lake and scramble from there, or approach from the Meysan Lake trail and take off by Grass Lake. Any inputs would be appreciated. Thank you. Take the Meysan Lakes Trail. Continue hiking up the canyon past Grass Lake, staying generally to the right. Don't go all the way to the lake. Hike till you see an easily reachable saddle on the right, between Candlelight and Mt. Irvine. Hike up to the saddle and turn right. There will be a few false summits along the way to Candlelight.

If I remember correctly, you are a climber...

What I call the Northeast Ridge (from Lone Pine Lake) of Candlelight is a classic scramble... you can keep it Class 3 with good route-finding skills... you can make it harder if you head straight up. Figuring out the climb down to the Notch on the ridge is a great puzzle.

I did it recently: http://piotrowski.smugmug.com/Whats-New-1/Candlelight-Peak-Northeast/29832555_rw8mzB#!i=2557958131&k=fBm8FSb
