Love the updated list of festivities.
How about 10:30 a.m. Saturday for anyone who is interested in seeing Manzanar. Maybe meet at the hostel, drive over. Alternatively, could go after lunch, say 1 p.m. Rosie, others, thoughts, preferences?

Ken and I will be heading up early Saturday morning from Temecula, so we could be up in the Lone Pine area by 10:30 easily for the Manzanar trip. You've probably got the furthest to drive, Karin, so if that would work for you, let's go with that. Woohoo!!... I leave a week from today! 10 days with family and friends!!!!

Honestly, after lunch is probably easier. I think that gives enough time to get back and get ready for dinner? I'll aim to get to LP by 11:30-12 noon, if that works for you.
Two friends of mine (one of whom came to the winter 2012 Alabama Hills WPSMB hike) are also coming, at least to the potluck and moon hike. (I think Chris is going to RSVP in his own.)
As is, of course, my adorable hikin' pup. If she has no costume, she'll be in her birthday suit. Is that sufficiently theme appropriate?

Stacy and Curt will bring Pasta Salad for the pot luck...and a little handmade jewelry to spice up the costumes! That is, if no one objects to a little early Christmas shopping...lol! Birthday peeps pick first!

Hi everyone, I'm Akichow's friend and I met some of you about 2 years ago. I'm bringing my girlfriend Carin and we're definitely in for Manzanar, potluck and Moonlight hike. We're going to discuss what food we're bringing tonight and I will update when I have that. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Eeek, it looks like the horde is +7 (Don't worry, we'll bring plenty of grog & gruel, again most likely erring on the veggie side of things given the current menu. I'll update as it gets closer.)
FYI: A few of us will be adding two new routes to the splendid Alabama Hills climbing area, so if anyone else brings climbing shoes and a harness, we should be able break the first ascensionists list record (which is eight for "Friday the 13th" at the Ghosts). This will go down on Saturday afternoon with the first route estimated at "moderate," the second one, not so much. (So, if you've ever dreamed of having your name immortalized in a tiny corner of random, regional and unimpressive climbing obscurity, this could be your chance.)
On a more serious note: Doug, is there room for eight at the inn for Saturday night or should we plan on Casa Cattle Pocket?

Hey Karin, I'm interested in seeing Manzanar. I'll be driving up from LA Friday morning and staying at the hostel Friday and Saturday night. I'm pretty open concerning scheduling, so just let me know what you guys decide. See you soon! Joyce

Awesome! Let's say meet at the hostel on Saturday to go to Manzanar at 1 p.m.
This assumes that the Govt shutdown is over. If it is not over, then we can pick Doug, Richard, et al's brains for an alternative, not-overly-taxing, daytime adventure.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

We might make it in time for Manzanar. I'll let you know as we get closer to the date.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! 1:00 works for Ken and me for the Manzanar trip!! ...and ditto on the "Looking forward to seeing everyone!"; if it weren't for these get-togethers, I don't know if I'd never have had the opportunity to meet Richard, Tracie, Karin, Karen, Laura, Shin, Doug, Dave, Cori, Stacy, Curtis, Carole, Mark, Norma, Tom, Kristine, Kurt... and the list goes on and on. All wonderful people - wonderful friends! (Oh yah... and I think I've got my costume figured out )

Sasha has her "costume" figured out. Girl has dignity no matter what mild craziness I send her way. <woof>
Hey, lurkers: the water is fine! Meaning that if you're out there and on the fence, come meet folks and join the party!

(Oh yah... and I think I've got my costume figured out ) ... and also, I think I'm only going to be in costume for the potluck... I just don't think it (my costume) will be warm enough to hike in. But I may bring a fun hat to wear while we hike, as Doug suggested

Rosie - I'd suggest more than just a fun hat to hike in.. perhaps socks?
I'm just sayin' (whispers.... frostbite on the tender parts - no good)
