A few of us had the great fortune of getting to do the 43 mile Rae Lakes Loop in Kings Canyon with Kurt Wedberg last week. 5 Days of sweet beautiful backpacking. I know leading a backpacking trip is not Kurt's bread & butter (or http://sierramountaineering.com/ for that matter) but if you can ever go on an adventure where Kurt is your guide you will not be disappointed. He has some slide shows coming up in November too... http://www.adventure16.com/events.asp?itemid=174&submit=getrecord&recordid=289

I will second that. I've been on trips with Kurt Wedberg and his guides. I have learned more than I ever expected I would and have had a great time. A true professional in every sense of the word.

His slideshows are great too. If anybody is around during that week to catch one of his shows you will definitely find it worthwhile.

Such a fun trip. I'd highly recommend the Rae Lakes Loop for a fun 4-5 day backpacking trip. Great scenery, fun trout fishing, and a good variety of terrain and altitude. Here are a few pix. The rest of them are here.

The Team

Entering into the zone of the fall colors in the Upper Paradise Valley. Granite domes abound.

I drink my Sierra water straight. The other guys filtered theirs smile

The climbing possibilities seem endless...

One of several bridges on the route. This one looked recently repaired with many new wood planks added.

Pepperoni pizza for the team tonight smile.

Fin Dome behind us.

Afternoon fly fishing in Rae Lakes

Morning frost on my sleeping bag at Rae Lakes

The boys on top of Glen Pass at 11,970'. The high point of the trip.
