Looks like food is substantially covered, so I'll bring some wine. (Since it's after Labor Day, it will be red.)

Hi So the Sunday hike might be a nice gentle climb up to the small peak above the Portal that you can see as you drive up the road. Also if we make the peak we can ask Tom have you ever been to the un-named peak of no known elevation. Besty and Jack reached the peak just below last year so I wanted to try this peak for several years. Expect a slough fest at least for 2000'and slim to none chance reaching the peak, distance of about 1 mile ! Look on Google earth and it will be the peak just north of the portal campground, we will park at the turn out at the end of the second switchback just entering the Portal canyon we call it Skunks Point also where they shot the Movie The Long Trailer about 2.5 miles above the road closed sign location. Meet around 7 AM at the turn out.

Thanks for the meeting location information!

How much time should we alot for the drive from Lone Pine to the meeting location?

And is there a refrigerator we can use to store something during the day? If so, may bring beer. If not, will probably bring a dessert.

Thanks!

How long? It depends... I recommend taking Lubken Canyon Road to the Slauson Cutoff.

Now you have your winter hobby all lined up...

(For the tally: I grabbed a case of Lagunitas IPA and a couple of bottles of Pinot.)

Okay. I am going to be a foo-foo city slicker and bring hard cider. And some form of shelf-stable dessert.

We're out too! frown
The pups aren't ready for a hike. The spay & neuter surgeries, complications that followed, and 10 days of antibiotics have really worn them out! Another week of recovery and they'll be back out on the trail and swimming!
Miss you guys!!!

Stacy

Hahaha! It could be a good thing. I don't think Sasha would tolerate them very well! They still act a little "spazzy" when they are around people and other dogs. Maybe they need the Scotch!!!
